About Dugout Decisions

Dugout Decisions is a browser-based baseball management simulation. Choose a player era, pick a starting point, and make the calls that shape each game.

How to play

Choose an 1980s or 1990s player era, then start in clutch time, the late innings, or play a full nine-inning game. You make the batting and pitching decisions; the game simulation generates the results.

A fresh lineup every game

Each game draws a random mix of real Major League players from the decade you choose. These aren’t fixed team rosters or a replay of a specific season—the lineups bring familiar names from your baseball memories together in new matchups. The batting order is balanced around each player’s strengths, and their stats can help guide your decisions at the plate.

Regular games are simulated from player statistics. In Historical Mode, the opening seven innings reflect the documented game; from the eighth on, your decisions shape a simulated finish.

Your record

Your win–loss record is saved in this browser on this device. It is not synced between browsers or devices, and clearing this site’s browser storage may erase it.

Optional support

The game is free to play. The optional tip link on the final score screen opens Venmo; tips do not unlock features or affect gameplay.

We plan to add more ways to play, including a Rivalry Series, additional player decades, and Historical Modes.

Who runs it

Dugout Decisions is an independent project run by Clifford Pate.
